The most memorable day with our nearest and dearest

Getting Ready

Angus wore the modern Muir tartan whilst the groomsmen wore the Black Watch tartan. Maria also provided shawls with the Black Watch tartan for the bridesmaids so they could match.

Fan Fact: Angus and the groomsmen originally wore their kilts the wrong way round! They spent the rest of the morning primping and posing with chess boards a la Messi and Ronaldo for Louis Vuitton.

Getting Ready

We were fortunate for the exclusive use of the Castle for the weekend so were both able to get ready in the penthouse suite. This also meant that we had shared the same hallway with the groomsmen. Maria had to hide just in case they caught a glimpse of the bride!

First Look

The first look was such a special moment for the both of us. You can tell by Angus’ face how shocked he was… he imagined my dress to be sparkly and less poofy!

We both felt excited on the way to the church.

Angus arrived at the church early with Ollie to get everything ready whilst Maria travelled with her mum.

They met up with the bridesmaids at the entrance, the wind was blowing but thankfully the sun kept everyone in good spirits!

We both chose the readings and hymns to be read and sung during the ceremony.

Fact: Maria designed the order of service that we distributed. We even ordered our seating chart and welcome sign (both also designed by Maria) from solopress. They’re a local small business based in Essex, so please support them with any printing needs.

We are so thankful to both Father Allan, who travelled from our local parish in London, and Reverend Theo who welcomed us to his church.

The ceremony was so beautiful, with the lovely homily by Father Allan and the hand fasting by Reverend Theo.

We originally planned to stay behind to take some photos at the church but we were so overwhelmed we wanted to get back to the Castle and enjoy a glass of bubbles!

We travelled back in comfort whilst the mums and bridesmaids rode in the vintage car. The girls deserved to drive in style after all their hard work completing the bridesmaid duties.

Best Man Speech

The most perfect best man speech - we still can’t believe how Ollie Phelan was able to include Spanish, English and Tagalog in one speech.

Fun Fact: Ollie asked Father Allan for some Tagalog tips before going on stage!

Wedding Video

Many of you were able to witness the filming, editing and showing of our wedding video during the evening reception.

As movie buffs, it seemed quite fitting that the final 5 seconds was like watching the next Mission Impossible sequel.

PS - Maria was bursting with excitement hence the little bounces/ hopping down the aisle

Final Comments

It was such a memorable day. Looking back, it almost feels like a blur of laughter and warmth. We still feel so lucky to have been able to celebrate this milestone with the most special people in our lives.

We are eternally grateful that you all made time and effort to spend the evening with us. You all looked so beautiful, James Bond eat your heart out! We hope you all had as much fun as we did!

Thank you for braving the cold to watch the fireworks, thank you for dancing a tune or two during the ceilidh, thank you for singing during the surprise late night karaoke.

THANK YOU.

Thank you to our talented saxophonist Rich Gordon, we missed most, if not all, of his performance but from the few bits we did hear - he sounded amazing.

Our amazing band KC and the Nightshift - we are completely speechless by the performance. We also didnt expect everyone to have a go at the ceilidh!

We got to see all your photobooth photos! Thank you to Partypaps for their services and lovely album.

Finally, if you’d like to relive memories of the Castle, you can see it on the BBC’s Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby.
